Surgery

So my surgery to reconnect my colon is scheduled for July 17 as long as my enema study (ouch!!!!) from today comes back with good results.

It's so weird to say I can't wait to use my rectum again, but the things you take for granted.... I just want to be whole again.

As always, thank you so much for you thoughts and prayers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A little scare

Last week we had a little scare (ok so it was a big scare when we heard the news). On Thursday I had my after radiation CT Scan. Friday we got the results that there was a tumor in my digestive lining about an inch above where they were radiating.

Here we go again, I thought.

Wednesday I had a biopsy taken to see what it was. That really hurts. They sedated me a little but every time he would stab my stomach with the needle I would wake up and scream OUCH!!!
The waiting and unknown are the hardest part. I was told that if it was cancer then we'd have to do more chemo..... urggg....
Yesterday we got the word that it was just scar tissue!!! Who knew scare tissue could give you such a scare??? But thank goodness! Both my oncologist and radiation doc were very concerned. We know this is a very aggressive cancer so being tumor free still is AMAZING!
Thank you all for your continued thoughts and prayers. They mean so very much!

Let's celebrate!!!

Something to read

Written By Regina Brett, 90 years old, of The Plain Dealer, Cleveland, Ohio

"To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me. It is the most-requested column I've ever written.

My odometer rolled over to 90 in August, so here is the column once more:

1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.

2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.

3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone...

4. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.

5. Pay off your credit cards every month.

6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.

8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.

9. Save for retirement starting with your first pay cheque.

10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.

11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.

12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.

13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.

15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; God never blinks.

16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.

17. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.

18. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.

19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.

20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.

21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion, today is special.

22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.

23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.

24. The most important sex organ is the brain.

25. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.

26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words 'In fiv e years, will this matter?'

27. Always choose life.

28. Forgive everyone everything.

29. What other people think of you is none of your business.

30. Time heals almost everything. Give time.

31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

32. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

33. Believe in miracles.

34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.

35. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.

36. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young.

37. Your children get only one childhood.

38. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.

39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.

40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.

41. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.

42. The best is yet to come.

43. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.

44. Yield.

45. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift."

'nuff said

Little girl alone on the playground
Tired of gettin' teased and gettin' pushed around
Wishin' she was invisible
To them

She ran home cryin'
"Why do they hate me?"
And Mama wiped the tears and said
"Baby, you're brave and you're beautiful.
So, hold your head high.
Don't ever let 'em define
The light in your eyes.
Love yourself, give them Hell.
You can take on this world.
You just stand and be strong
And then fight
Like a girl."

At 31 she was wheelin' and dealin'
Kept on hittin' that same glass ceilin'
She was never gonna one of the boys, no
She coulda gave up on her ambition
And spent the rest of her life just wishin'
Instead she listened to her mama's voice sayin'

"Hold your head high.
Don't ever let 'em define
The light in your eyes.
Love yourself, give them Hell.
You can take on this world.
You just stand and be strong
And then fight
Like a girl."

Oh, with style and grace
Kick ass and take names

Ten years of climbin' that ladder
Oh, but money and power don't matter
When the doctor said "the cancer spread"
She holds on tight to her husband and babies
And says "this is just another test God gave me.
And I know just how to handle this"

I'll hold my head high
I'll never let this define
The light in my eyes
Love myself, give it Hell
I'll take on this world
If I stand and be strong
No, I'll never give up
I will conquer with love
And I'll fight like
Like a girl

The Economy

Since the economy has gone down hill Ryan and I have decide to support our local businesses. When we go out to eat we like to find locally owned/mom and pop/hole in the wall type places. Our favorite place now is Donny Mac's Traitor Park Cuisine. It's amazing! They're menu is small but all their food is good. We love their chili, hamburgers, mac and cheese and especially their muds (their style of milkshakes)
If you know of any great restaurants in the Boise area please share!!!

Rylie

She'll be having her surgery for her urine reflux the first week of June.
When she was 3 months old she had a very high fever for 5 days with no other symptoms. I made them do a urine culture on her and she had a very bad UTI. She had a VCUG x-ray done where we found her reflux and kidney scaring. She's been on antibiotics since. She's had 3 other VCUGs saying the same thing. We want her body to grow out of this but it doesn't seem like that'll happen so Ryan and I have decide to do the surgery so she can get off her daily antibiotic and we won't have to worry about more kidney scaring since every time she's ever had a fever we've had to take her in to check to see if she has a UTI/kidney infection. Poor girl
Thoughts and prayers for her will be very appreciated.
